An enjoyable evening was had by all Owners and Staff at Deercote Court last Thursday during a Fish & Chips Supper followed by an Elvis Presley Tribute Act. Everyone had a lovely time and Elvis didn't leave the building until 11.00pm.

In the year when we are celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we remember people who belong or used to belong to the same generation as Her Majesty. To honour and preserve their life stories a book has been created. This book is a collection of precious memories, extraordinary achievements and amazing stories shared by our dear Owners and their families. We are happy to have some of the actors still around to share their stories with us. It started with an email in 2019 from Mr Philip Brodie (son of Mrs Brodie, Farthing Court, Apt.54): Dear Olivera, It was lovely chatting with you last night and learning about your great interest in the residents who have incredible life histories, and the ambition that you all have to enhance the “people element” of your roles. Following on from there, please find attached as promised the chapter in the book, produced in 2003 by our synagogue about members of my mother’s generation, with her piece written in the first person. I know this will be interesting to you, and perhaps a number of residents. Kind regards to you all, Philip. Then Yasmin had an idea… Dear Owner/Owners I was reading a short autobiography last night, written by a previous Owner, that had been included in a book called “Book of Memories”. I had a thought, why not compile a collection of short “life stories” of Farthing Court Owners and put them in a book for present and future Owners to read. Yasmin Please enjoy some fascinating stories and photos from our collection! It had been a long time coming for this event as the birthday girl, Anita Yates, had her ‘day of birth’ back in October last year, however, due to unforeseen circumstances her birthday celebrations had to be postponed! So everyone was surely looking forward to celebrating with her in our Great Hall. The decorations were up, the buffet was beautifully displayed and her friends here at Brompton were dressed up ‘to the nines’ to raise a glass or two!
Our very own Tony Letts, who joined as a new Owner only last year, provided the entertainment for the evening. There was much merriment, with songs from the past and some current hits too! Great food, lovely company and a super time was had by all. Thanks go to Carl, Suzie, Lynne, Fernanda, Tracy and Ann for helping to make this such a special evening. It was a much-anticipated event, with a fabulous buffet prepared by our Chef and staff, and entertainment provided by The Land Girls. Two sets of music, the first a selection of all-time hits from the 40’s & 50’s followed by a second which had everyone up and dancing to the hugely popular hits of ABBA.
Huge thanks to all Brompton Court Staff who helped to make this such a success; Carl, Suzie, Fernanda and Kimberley. Christmas is always a time of cheer here at Brompton Court, with beautiful decorations throughout and lots of events and activities to keep our Owners filled with joyful Christmas Spirit. Here is a selection of photos taken throughout the month of December...
Huge thanks, as always, to all our dedicated Staff for helping to make each and every event a success: Carl, Suzie, Raf, Lynne, Sally, Nicola, Tracy, Ashley, Mariza, Claire, Sarah, Maria, Donna, Ann and Amirah. It was a lovely evening, a lovely atmosphere in our Great Hall at Brompton Court. The Forest Holme Community Choir arrived and our Owners were eagerly awaiting a beautiful Carole Service, followed by a Raffle Draw to raise funds for this very worthy cause. Vicky Brown, one of our Owners, has been supporting the Hospice for a number of years and with her help, the raffle raised the sum of £470 in total. A huge success! Many thanks to Carl and Suzie for their valued help.
