The owners at The Ropewalk in Bradford on Avon got together on 29th May to celebrate and thank their gardener of 30 years, David. One of the owner’s hand made all of the cakes and pastries, and gifts were offered to David. Thanking the owners for their kindness, David said he could sum up working at The Ropewalk and how he felt about the owners in two words, “Grateful” and “Encouraging”. He added it was “a nice community to be involved in and a blessing to be here”. |

John Hammond from St Elizabeth Hospice came to give a talk to the owners at Gressland Court about the charity and how the local retail centre supports its work.
John and his wife Julie have been volunteering at the Martlesham retail centre since it opened seven years ago and are part of the 1,500+ group of volunteers who regularly give their time to support the work of the hospice. St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent Suffolk charity, which each year delivers care to over 4,000 patients and their families throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney. We gave a warm welcome to Liz Ferrie, a friend of Brompton who has sung for us on many occasions over the years. She delighted the residents with her incredible voice, singing a montage of popular songs from the Musicals… much toe tapping and singing along was had. With wine and nibbles to boot, it was a very pleasant evening indeed - Bravo!
Thanks to Court Manager Carl, and Duty Manager’s Suzie and Frances for their efforts bringing the successful evening together. In May the owners enjoyed an afternoon of music provided by The Kesgrave Singers, a local community choir who are regular visitors to Gressland Court.
We would like to wish Mrs Hill a very happy 104th Birthday and many more years to come in good health, happiness and prosperity. From all at Deercote Court.
On Wednesday 1st May, 16 owners went on an outing to the Kidderminster Carpet Museum, this was following on from a carpet spinning demonstration that was held here at Eastbank Court a few weeks previously. The owners were treated to tea and biscuits and a talk about the history of carpet making in Kidderminster. They then had the chance to explore the museum and look at the machinery that was used to make carpets years ago. Finally, they stopped off at a local pub for a drink and some lunch before returning home. All had a great day and once again a big thank you to Mr Herington for organising the outing.
A talk by guest speaker Paul Miles
Bournemouth Square can certainly be dated back to the 1870's, but how did that title originate? Paul Miles took us on a whistle stop illustrated history tour of Bournemouth town centre feature, ‘The Square’ and how it got its name! A fascinating afternoon indeed. Next month, we will be going with Paul on a ‘Walking Tour’ of the Square, which won’t be far as it’s a stone throw away from the Court. |
