On Friday 24th September the residents at Eastbank Court came together to take part in Macmillan’s biggest coffee morning. Friends and family from outside the court also came along and there was a lovely atmosphere throughout.
Mr Graham ran a tombola with residents donating prizes, there was a great selection on offer and everyone that had a go was a winner! Olga and Stacey (our amazing cooks) produced some fantastic cakes which the residents enjoyed on the day as well as purchasing more to take home with them. We played ‘guess the number of sprinkles on colin’ which was won by Mrs Price. She donated her winnings straight back to Macmillan. Mr Graham also won a quiz, and his prize was a special Macmillan Colin the Caterpillar which he very kindly gave to the staff to enjoy. All the efforts made by the staff, residents and their family and friends resulted in us raising £727.56 for Macmillan Cancer Support. A great effort which will help Macmillan to continue the great work they do! We had a great time at Farthing Court on Wednesday 22 September for the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and raised £175.00 for Macmillan Cancer Research. The owners played a game and had a cup of tea with some lovely cakes and scones donated by the staff.
One of our owners, Mrs Lindsay, organised Alston's Macmillan Coffee Morning, and we supplied teas served by a glamourous assistant. The event raised £352.50.
We held our MacMillan Coffee morning today, which was very busy with lots a cake eaten, and a brilliant sum of £330 raised!
We held our Macmillan coffee morning this morning; some lovely cakes were donated and so far we have raised £169.51.
We would like to thank Mr Griffin for creating this magical place. It has been admired not only by fellow owners and staff but also guests visiting our court. You are always there tending to your flowers and happy to stop and have a chat. Your hard work has certainly paid off. Another successful and well attended evening. According to Dr Hawkins, owner at Deercote Court, it was the greatest fish and chips ever; followed by Dog Racing, enjoyed by all. Congratulations to the lucky winners.
Anna, our cook at Deercote Court, is doing a sponsored walk to support Macmillan Cancer Charity. Anna’s goal is to complete 150 miles in September! Anna has completed 91 miles to date and still has 59 miles to go!
If you wish to donate towards this incredible cause, please use the link below: https://www.facebook.com/donate/164401439152315/164401465818979/ It was a very special occasion at Brompton Court! The first ‘proper’ gathering inside the Great Hall since Lockdown and what a great event it was. Mrs Ractliffe hadn’t been able to celebrate her 80th last year, due to Lockdown, so it was time to get her ‘glad rags’ on and to invite everyone to have a “knees up”!
A lovely time was had by friends & family, a fabulous buffet and great entertainment that got many of the Owners up and dancing! Our thanks to Carl, Suzie, Claire and Tracy who all helped to make this event run so smoothly. There’s nothing quite like a ‘Brompton Brunch’ and our Chefs, John & Fernanda, certainly didn’t disappoint us to finish August off in style!
A wonderful selection of beautifully prepared dishes, everything cooked to perfection, and for those with a sweet tooth… you couldn’t resist the Key Lime Cheesecake or Trifle that was on offer. Everyone was well fed and watered, with coffee served in our Great Hall and some lively background music to round it off perfectly! Our thanks to all the staff who helped to make this event happen, Sally, Nicola, Kimberley, Sarah, Tracy and Mariza. This weekend, we were proud to host the art work of Montrose Court resident and artist Brian Ewart as part of Wirral’s Open Studio Art Tour. Numerous artists opened their doors across Wirral at no charge, to allow others to see their collections and talk to the artists. Brian’s pieces were incredible and attracted over 100 visitors. We look forward to seeing Brian’s next creation in the coming months.
