Lucy’s Dance Club is for ladies of a certain age who love the musicals and for their fitness and pleasure, they meet weekly and learn dance routines to many favourite songs and show tunes. Ann, one of our housekeepers who retired last year, is part of Lucy’s Dance Club and she has organised a 30 minute show for us. The lovely ladies also put on a small play and poetry readings for our owners.

The weather held and was kind to us last weekend for our Summer Fete organised by our Duty Manager Carole. Owners enjoyed a selection of stall holders with clothes, crafts, paper and wooden handmade items, jams and chutneys, candles, jewellery, homemade cakes by one of our owners for Scope, and a raffle and tombola again run by one of our owners for Forest Holme. A bouncy castle for the children and of course Pimm’s and a selection of drinks and ice creams to enjoy whilst relaxing on our patio area and socializing with all our owners and guests for the afternoon. Thank you to Frances, Maria and Stacey who supported Carole on the day. Acoustic singer songwriter Roxanne, a soulful and captivating folk musician hailing from the picturesque coastal town of Bournemouth. Born and raised in Devon, Roxanne has developed an early love for music, drawn to the rich heritage of folk traditions passed down through generations. As a young troubadour, she would often wander the shores finding inspiration in the natural beauty that surrounds the coastal town. This connection to nature and a deep appreciation for the stories that lie within it can be heard in every note and lyric she weaves into her enchanting songs. All the wonderful owners at Brompton Court wished one of their residents John a Happy 90 + 3 Birthday, with a fabulous party. The birthday boy and his guests enjoyed a brilliant selection of songs sung by Rachel Moore and Tony Letts throughout the night along with plenty of drinks, nibbles, cake and of course dancing! Happy 93rd Birthday John from all of us at Brompton Court. A wonderful evening in our fabulous gardens under the gazebo’s, full of BBQ food from our chef John, followed up by the Otis Jay Blues band who are new to Brompton for 2023. There was fun, food, music and lots of dancing after dinner by our owners and the Brompton Team. A massive thank you to our chef for all his preparation and hard work on the night; along with Suzie our Duty Manager for organising the whole event and to Carole, Teresa, Ashley and Stacey for their hard work on the night. Brompton’s tradition sees us into the two weeks of tennis mania that will descend upon the Court and indeed the nation - so let’s get in the mood! Owners enjoyed a refreshing glass of Pimm’s served with English strawberries and Chantilly cream, while they watched the first day of tennis. We will continue to show the tennis everyday on our big screen for owners to watch with others and to follow the highs and lows of this famous tournament. Thank you to Maria and Tracy for running the event and preparing the yummy treats. Happy 60th Wedding Anniversary to Mr & Mrs Guthrie and Mr & Mrs Symonds this month. They held a wonderful party all planned and organised by themselves, a real team effort. All owners were invited to join them for sandwiches, cakes and wine, accompanied by the St George’s Choir as entertainment which Mr Guthrie and Mr & Mrs Symonds have been a part of. A donation to the Stoke charity was requested instead of gifts, and the guests were very generous. Congratulations to you all. Hosted by the Host with the Most! Duty Manger Carl and assistant Duty Manager Suzie put on a quiz to tackle the owners brains. We had 5 teams battling it out for the top prize and trying to avoid the wooden spoon! The quizzers enjoyed a glass of wine with nibbles while they put their general knowledge skills to the test. Congratulations to Joan, Vicky, Margret, Enid, Audrey and John who won with a nail biting tie breaker question. Happy 90th Birthday to Mrs June Arditti, who celebrated in style with a outside birthday tea party on our glorious decking in our gardens. The weather was beautiful and just right to wish June a Happy Birthday with some yummy cakes and terrific tea. Many happy returns June from all of us at Brompton Court.
Brompton welcomed back the Bourne River Morris Men to show off their skills and Morris dancing routines for our owners. We had the added luxury of being able to be outside with this glorious weather. Owners enjoyed cocktails and mocktails during the performance. A big thank you to Raf and Suzie for organising and running the event, and to Malcom and his Morris Men for a great show! Amelia’s Rainbow is a Bournemouth based charity providing holidays, grants and gifts to Dorset based children with serious, chronic, life limiting and terminal illnesses, to create memories for them and their families. We gave a warm welcome back to Trevor (in his shorts) and the Ukulele Rebels as they performed great tunes and melodies; we had a jolly old sing song! We even got to enjoy the entertainment outside in our fabulous gardens.
Wow what a weekend, fabulous weather every day and we ended the weekend with an amazing event. A three course buffet menu prepared by our Chef Fernanda in our dining room followed by The Polly Morris Comedy Folk Song Band outside in our stunning gardens and decking area. Owners danced the afternoon away and enjoyed the late afternoon weather under the protect of our gazebo’s from the sunshine. A big thank you to Suzie and Carole, our Duty Managers, for running the vent with the help of Mariza, Teresa, Saka, and Daniel. We started the lead up early with a Kings Coronation display by our Duty Manager Suzie and Mrs Jones, Suzie used her talented craft skills to make us a Crown and Mrs Jones chalk drew a picture of King Charles III. What a weekend! We kicked off on Friday with our monthly chat club following the Coronation theme with some beautiful cakes made by Jenny Shieldhouse which looked and tasted fabulous. On Saturday owners enjoyed the Kings Coronation ceremony played on our big screen with our tea and coffee station on hand to see them through. Sunday evening we had the big screen back in action again to show the Coronation Concert with amazing acts and light show. Monday's Bank Holiday finished off the weekend perfectly with our King’s Coronation Tea Party & Singalong; owners put on their posh hats and glad rags and joined us for a Royal Tea Party with a sing-a-long to many of our favourite tunes… I’m Forever Blowing Bubbles, Maybe Its Because I’m a Londoner, Daisy Daisy, Lambeth Walk and many more. All washed down with a class of prosecco, scones, sandwiches and tasty mini cakes. We dressed the dining room and tables to match the theme all weekend for our diners to enjoy too. Brompton would like to give a massive thank you to Suzie our Duty Manager for all her hard work on planning the whole weekend events and decoration in and around the Court. Also a special thank you to Carole for working hard running the events and to Tracy and Teresa for their amazing outfits for Monday’s Tea Party. Brompton welcomed in the 1st May with a three course sit down lunch and we extended a very warm welcome return to Veronika & Graham, the superb flute & guitar duo known as Czeckmate. They played a mix of classical, jazz and modern popular music from the 16th century to the present day for our owners to enjoy. |
