Sue Richards has resigned from Queen Anne Court after nine years’ service to take up a new role in a veterinary practice. The Owners hosted a coffee morning when she was presented with many cards, gifts and flowers. Sue had been manager since the Court opened and had welcomed many Owners to their new homes. She will be missed by Owners and staff.
Owners and staff are looking forward to our second celebration for the Queen’s Birthday. Pimms, fruit punch and a buffet fit for a Queen will be served.
Also in June a coach trip to Bourton-on-the-Water has been organised, followed by a trip to Weston-Super-Mare in July. Now the busy festive season is over, our normal monthly activities have started again, these include fish and chip supper, fitness Friday, prayer meeting, quiz and games afternoon, scrabble to name but a few.
Many Owners have booked for our ever popular Shrove Tuesday “pancake event”, and March we will be celebrating Easter with Hot Cross Buns on Good Friday and a special Easter Sunday lunch. We held our Bonfire Buffet on November 5th and it was well attended and enjoyed by all. A raffle was held to enable us to buy a Maple Tree. There are numerous Christmas events planned to include handbell ringing, evening Christmas meal, "make something for Christmas" and a "Bring and Buy Sale". One of our Owners will be holding his ever popular "music afternoon" with a Christmas theme.
The Court is looking very clean and bright as the external metal work has just been cleaned and painted. In June we held our ever popular 'Pimms and Nibbles afternoon' which included a selection of finger sandwiches, scones with fresh cream and strawberries, homemade cakes, crisps and nibbles. Some owners invited guests who came along and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.
In July we had an open day to promote the apartments that are for sale. The open day fell on the hottest day of the year! All that attended were very grateful for the refreshments provided and were able to sit in the garden and enjoy them. Our regular activities carried on through the summer months, these include Knit & Natter, Scrabble, Bingo, Fish & Chip supper, games afternoons, cards, prayer meetings, book club, quizzes and Fitness Friday. Certainly a full itinerary! The owners also arrange a lunch outing each month. A busy Easter time was enjoyed by all the Owners. There were themed events including Hot Cross Buns, a fresh posy competition, word search and an Easter interest table. An Owner’s 90th birthday was celebrated with a tea for relatives and friends. The Court has welcomed a new duty manager. The garden is full of colour. The gardening committee are working on projects to improve areas of the garden this summer.
