On New Year’s Eve some of our owners came together to enjoy canapés and wine in the lounge, and New Year's Day saw another packed dining room as owners and their guests tucked into succulent lamb shanks and toasted to the year to come. We look forward to bringing news of new events to come in 2019!
Now we are firmly in 2019, we would like to recap on a wonderful Christmas period here at Gresham Court. There were an abundance of festive activities including a mulled wine evening where owners gathered in the lounge to relax, enjoy nibbles and play card games together. Owners then gathered again for the annual Christmas Lunch, which saw the dining room packed to the rafters and our chefs pulling out all the stops to serve a delicious meal enjoyed by all. We managed to sneak in a cheese and wine evening before our Christmas Day celebrations, where we served drinks in the lounge from 10.30am and enjoyed a lovely tradition meal in the afternoon. Boxing Day saw residents and their guests come together to enjoy a traditional meal and toast the year gone by.

Holmesdale received a lovely review from one of their guests:
“The bed was extremely comfortable and the power shower worked well. There were plenty of towels on a heated rail. The room was very quiet and I had a great night’s sleep.” Pupils from Mill Hill School recently visited Farthing Court as a part of Mill Hill School's Community Enrichment Programme.
Mill Hill School is based in Mill Hill Village. As well as the regular day pupils they also have boarders from around the world. As part of their ‘enrichment programme’, pupils will be engaging with the local community. They have spent one afternoon with our owners just chatting about anything they like, listening to their stories, or if an owner has a problem with, for instance, how to use a mobile phone, they help to solve the problem. Recent events in December and January have included two carol services, two Christmas lunches, a Boxing Day Brunch and a great New Year's Eve complete with a Casino night.
We also celebrated the centenary of our second oldest resident Ruth Bradbury. Beryl Webber is still winning at 101 ! Up and coming events include a visit from the 1st Cambourne Scouts. |
