Fine Dining Evening... Italian Night with Opera Singer Yuri Sabatini... Pimm's Afternoon in the Garden... Court Manager Steve and Chef John... Ruth Bradbury celebrated her 105th Birthday on 29th October. Ruth has lived at Cavendish since December 2016 and is still a very independent lady, receiving no outside help, other than from her son Kevin. Lots of Cavendish owners came along to help Ruth celebrate. Recent events in March and April have included two bingo afternoons, two film nights, St. Patrick's Day and St. George's Day lunches, a Mother's Day lunch and an Easter Sunday lunch.
The Social Group have also been busy with a fish and chip supper, an afternoon of music with Carla and Tim, two afternoon tea parties and a midweek coffee morning in aid of Arthur Rank. Ruth Bradbury at 104 is still going strong! Up and coming events include a Coronation Sunday lunch and a Red Cross Caring Cuppa Tea in the Garden. BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! Recent events in December and January have included two carol services, two Christmas lunches, a Boxing Day Brunch and a great New Year's Eve complete with a Casino night.
We also celebrated the centenary of our second oldest resident Ruth Bradbury. Beryl Webber is still winning at 101 ! Up and coming events include a visit from the 1st Cambourne Scouts. Cavendish Court's successful Christmas raffle raised a fantastic £895 for Help the Heroes.
Burns night, complete with Haggis stabbing, a piper and a wee dram raised £80 for the Winter Comfort Homeless charity. The Christmas Hand Bell Ringing concert, organised by the Social group also went down well. Pre Christmas lunch, Christmas Day lunch and Boxing Day brunch were all well attended and thoroughly enjoyed, as was the New Years Eve Buffet and Race night. We now have a waiting list, but apartments are coming on the market on a regular basis so keep in touch. New owners have been welcomed in April, May , June and July with 3 more arrivals due in August.
Recent events this summer have included two charity garden parties for Marie Curie and Breast Cancer Care and one organised by the Social Group. Up and coming events include a Summer picnic lunch in the garden and a Pimms night BBQ. It’s all go! We now have a waiting list for apartments but apartments are coming on the market very regularly. A number of new owners have been welcomed in February & March. Recent events in March & April have included the completion of the redecoration of the guest suite with our first two customers, Barry and Yvonne Summerfield enjoying champagne and flowers to celebrate this.
We have also celebrated the centenary of our oldest resident, Berly Webber, in March with a special coffee morning. Another high point was the great St. George’s Day Sunday afternoon with Jack Clarke, a brilliant jazz singer who recently qualified for the second round of Britain’s Got Talent! We also raised several hundred pounds for Jimmy’s Night Shelter from the St. George’s Day Raffle. It’s all go! We now have two single apartments on the market and a number of new owners have been welcomed recently, with three more due to arrive in February & March. Recent events in December & January have included three carol services, two Christmas lunches, a great New Year's Eve complete with a race night and a very funny Burn’s night complete with Haggis stabbing, a piper, and a great rendition of Auld Lang Syne. Owners raised £100 for the local homeless hostel. Up and coming events include the redecoration of the guest suite and a presentation by the Knit Wits (Wednesday afternoon knitters). £800 to representatives of the East Anglian Air Ambulance was raised from the Great Autumn Raffle. Prince William was unable to make it on this occasion!
We now have one single apartment on the market and a number of new owners have been welcomed recently, with three more due to arrive in August and September.
Recent events in June and July have included a garden party to celebrate the arrival of the new garden furniture, a well attended Father’s Day Lunch and a Wimbledon Strawberry Tea. The recent redecoration of the lounge, games room and dining room is now being completed by the reupholstering of the dining room chairs and new linen and table mats. It’s all go! The court is now full and we have a waiting list. A number of new Owners have been welcomed recently together with new staff on our house keeping team.
Recent social events have included a talk by Bob Taylor about his early days as a ‘bobby’, successful Mothering Sunday and St. Patrick’s day lunches. The next few months looks equally busy. LED lighting has been installed in all the corridors. Redecoration of the communal areas is planned for the summer. |
