Many of the Gressland Court Owners were taken down a musical memory lane with music from the 60’s and 70’s by local duo “Brotherhood”. Stopping briefly for cheese and wine, some even took a twirl on the dance floor.

To celebrate the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, one of Gressland Court's Duty Managers, Lyn, performed some well-known songs from the war years dressed as a land girl.
There were plenty of smiles, flag waving and a few tears as our owners remembered the D-Day celebrations as well as the loss of many loved ones. John Hammond from St Elizabeth Hospice came to give a talk to the owners at Gressland Court about the charity and how the local retail centre supports its work.
John and his wife Julie have been volunteering at the Martlesham retail centre since it opened seven years ago and are part of the 1,500+ group of volunteers who regularly give their time to support the work of the hospice. St Elizabeth Hospice is an independent Suffolk charity, which each year delivers care to over 4,000 patients and their families throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney. In May the owners enjoyed an afternoon of music provided by The Kesgrave Singers, a local community choir who are regular visitors to Gressland Court.

Last year we sent Christmas parcels out to children in need all over the world, and it was lovely to see a video made by some volunteers who took the parcels out; the children’s faces when they opened them was sheer delight. We will be doing this again this year. We are currently busy planning our summer BBQ in June which is a Country & Western theme complete with hog roast. Our ladies at Gressland Court have an armchair keep fit class every Monday and each year a presentation takes place for a dedication award. This year the award was won by Shirley; congratulations! All monies raised from the keep fit classes are donated to charity and this year it will be donated to EACH (East Anglian Children’s Hospice).
On Saturday we held our Christmas Fayre with the proceeds going into the Owners Entertainment fund. We raised over £800 with the sale of crafts (made by some of the owners), cakes, tombola, raffle and the sale of tea/coffee & cake. We also had other external stall holders attend who gave a donation for the table.
Gressland Court held a Louisiana/Mardi Gras night which was very well attended. A superb meal was served with Hurricane cocktails and Lyn, Duty Manager, dressed up as a court jester. A great evening was had by all.
