Wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
As Christmas is knocking on the door we are getting busy. We will be offering our owners something special for all the forthcoming holidays. It is difficult to find any free space in our social calendar. December is teeming with events. Mr Paul Cavendish will be bringing the magic of Christmas when he returns at the beginning of festivities, followed by a special Christmas lunch for our Book Club, Play reading Club and Gentleman’s Club members, traditional visit to St. Albans market, spiced with Frith Manor School Choir performing Christmas Carols, finishing with a whole week of delicious menus for Christmas. Not forgetting our Chanukah Tea and New Years Eve bites. We are delighted to have Mr Mark Warman a Professor of the Royal Academy of Music who has just finished working on Disney’s Mary Poppins with Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt to join us by the piano for this year’s Christmas sing a long.
Wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

The redecoration of the ground floor and communal areas is now complete. Our new look lounge (see picture below) is already getting a lot of compliments.
Over the coming weeks we have many varied events which include
Unfortunately we currently have no apartments for sale and the waiting list is growing which proves the popularity of Alston Court. Over the next few months however some of our empty apartment will be coming up for sale so I encourage all potential buyers to regularly look at this website. Life has been busy at the Court over the previous few months, with the appointment of a new General Manager. A MacMillan Coffee morning was held recently which raised over £900 – a fantastic sum.
Social events have included a Strawberry Afternoon Tea to co-incide with the Wimbledon Ladies Tennis final, a Queen’s 90th Birthday Buffet Party and the restaurant hosted a ‘Best of British’ week, offering traditional dishes from Scotland, Ireland, England and Wales – the chef’s Raspberry Cranachan Trifle is now legendary! With Christmas approaching, we have a number of events to look forward to, in addition to the regular activities at the Court including Wine Club, Scrabble Club, Bingo and Quiz nights. A spooktacular evening was enjoyed by all at our recent Halloween party with all the owners wearing fancy dress! Watch this space for photos coming soon....
We are looking forward to our Christmas party in December. Deercote Court has recently had new Amtico flooring laid in both the dining room and foyer area making it even more luxurious than before. We have a new Chef, John Gray, join the Brompton Court Team and many Owners enjoyed a ‘Meet the Chef’ evening meal. The evening started with a Sherry reception in the Great Hall, many came along dressed up in their finest and were greeted by Levi, a local young man who entertained the Owners playing his guitar throughout the evening... very soulful!
We had a fantastic menu choice. Stilton Soup or Avocado Fan with Prawn Marie Rose followed by Grilled Trout Almandine or Steak Diane as the main courses of the night, finished off with either Panna cotta with fresh fruit salad or Treacle sponge with custard! All accompanied by a fine choice of wines, the evening went very well ... Bravo Chef! We have welcomed 7 new owners to the Court in recent months, all of whom have settled in well and thoroughly enjoy the social activities on offer.
We are looking forward to the festive season with parties, singers and craft events with a very special Christmas Eve event. Owners recently attended a fun filled evening during Halloween, culminating in a dinner that was thoroughly enjoyed by all whom attended. Staff and owners entered into the ‘spirit’ of the season, dressing up as witches, devils and ghosts – much to the amusement of each other!
Friday 30th September was the Macmillan Coffee Morning. We had great fun with a Tombola Stall run by one of our Owners, his hard word in making this happen raised £170.00
Our Chef, Claire, excelled in the production of some amazing cakes. These were snapped up at great speed and very much enjoyed. The whole event was very well supported and the total raised for this very worthwhile charity was £485.09 In October we ran a Quiz evening in aid of the R.N.L.I. The fish & chip supper was appreciated by all, the Quiz raised a fantastic £158.00. There have been several ‘significant’ birthdays celebrated by Owners over the last few months. On each occasion they have invited the whole Court to join them to commemorate the event. Many glasses of Prosecco have flowed freely at Eastbank Court !! Also in October a Poetry Reading was held. Two of our Owners entertained their fellow Residents with some very moving and eloquent poetry. October also saw the return of the wonderful singer, Johnny Tarrino. He was ‘back by popular demand’ following an appearance here earlier in the year. An Arts & Crafts class is a recent addition to Eastbank Court. This is proving to be a very popular class. Christmas approaching Eastbank Court will enjoy 25 people from the local church choir. Our owners Christmas party on 10/11 December many family members will join them in this celebration. Wine and cheese evening is planned for all owners and staff. Mr Breeden one of our many talented owners will be entertaining us with festive songs playing his keyboard while everyone enjoys mulled wine & mince pies. We will see the new year in with a champagne Buffet. |
