We have welcomed new owners in the last month who are settling in very well.
Many of our owners recently enjoyed the lunch at the local Italian restaurant, we are hoping will become a regular event. Lots of owners had a great “Pimms” afternoon with with strawberries and cream in July. £244 was raised for “The Honeypot Children’s Charity”. The Owners at Brompton Court enjoyed an afternoon tea with a raffle for this worthy cause. Bears came too!
The Rock and Roll night went very well and the next event is going to be a Strawberry Tea in a couple of weeks and then ‘Pimm’s on the Patio’ in August. Last year more than 30 owners and guests attended each of these events.
Various contractors are visiting Alston Court in preparation of the external redecoration. All the render and some brickwork is to be cleaned, the rainwater goods to be renewed, external walkways to be painted and wooden balcony rails replaced. It will mean that the Court will be covered in scaffolding for a period but the outside will be pristine when the work is finished.
Gressland Court held their annual BBQ on Saturday 15th July. Unfortunately, the flypast did not go ahead due to the Dakota’s engine catching fire, but this did not spoil our day. The theme was 1940’s with some of the owners coming as refugees with their gas mask boxes. Susie, Gloria, Giny, Susan, Karen and Lyn all dressed up together with some of our guests. Lyn and her sister Bobby were our singers for the day. The Stowmarket Boys Brigade Marching Band came and played. We had 122 people in the garden having a lovely time with plenty of Pimm’s and BBQ to follow.
On the evening of the 4th July, 42 Owners attended the annual barbeque at Eastbank Court. A glorious sunny evening, enabled the event to be held in the beautiful gardens. Gorgeous food was washed down with copious amounts of Sangria. The hard work by all the staff was praised and the evening talked about for days after.
Hosted by Suzie and Sarah on Monday 3rd July on our lovely patio. Owners enjoyed a refreshing glass of Pimm’s served with Strawberries & Chantilly Cream.
All the tennis games were shown on the large cinema screen in our hobbies room for everyone to be able to enjoy and keep up with the Wimbledon action. Our first Summer Fete, is being held on Monday 7th August for all our owners, family and friends. There will be 14 stalls which will be selling their goods to all, in our beautiful, newly redesigned gardens. All welcome.
Brompton Court It was Eye’s Down at Brompton Court on Tuesday 11th July with our amazing Bingo caller Carl ably supported by Raf,the Court’s Duty Managers.
Owners enjoyed nibbles and a glass of wine in a great atmosphere with a couple of games of bingo and super prizes. The Owners’ enjoyed a lovely afternoon cream tea in June prepared by the Social committee and helpers.
The Owners and staff at Brackenbury Manor held a Pimms and Cake afternoon at the end of June to say farewell to Paul, who is retiring, he has been a Duty Manager at the Court for 9 years. He will be greatly missed by everyone. He plans to play a lot more golf and will be Volunteering to drive the local minibus.
