Owners at Brompton Court enjoyed a night inspired by the classic movie, with a morocco themed menu and wine. David Walsh, our local piano player, joined us to play to the owners as they entered into the dining room and during dinner. All owners then moved to the Great Hall for coffee and more music by David on our grand piano. Thank you to Ben and Suzie for organising the event for the owners, and to Tracy and Ann for their help on the evening running the event.

On the 24th October we said good bye to Ben our Duty Manager as he is moving on to a new opportunity. Thank you for all your hard work over the last 5 years! Ben started at Brompton as a relief Duty Manager and became a fulltime manager after 2 years. Ben went out with a bang as his last shift was the colourful Casablanca evening. Good Luck Ben.
Gressland Court held a Country and Western evening with our Duty Manager Lyn who sang with Bobby, Dennis and Bill. Hot dogs were served with soda or a beer. A fun evening was had by all, complete with our very own Dolly Parton.
Brook Court raised a magnificent £817.39 for Macmillan Cancer. This sum included money raised at the summer BBQ and the coffee morning.
Owners joined Carl and Raf our Duty Managers for Brompton’s famous quiz written by Suzie our Duty Manager. Owners got their brains in gear with cheese and wine to have some fun completing our 6 round quiz.
After almost eleven years I will be leaving Pegasus Court and Lodge on 19th October.
Phil Woodward and Suzanna Shattock will be the new managers here as a job share. I wish them, Kingsdale and the Owners all the very best wishes for the future. Rachel Clarke This weekend Montrose Court have celebrated Marion Ferguson’s 80th birthday with a whole host of festivities. We began with a party for friends and family, enjoyed live music, table magic and a buffet. Owners and visitors danced the night away and had a wonderful evening. Sunday morning left little time for recovery as we enjoyed morning coffee and cake followed by Sunday lunch for 25. Marion’s daughter Lorna gave a beautiful speech and it was fitting to toast Marion with champagne for everyone. To round off the weekend, the whole court was invited to enjoy music and dancing from a live Ukulele band. It was a wonderful weekend for a wonderful lady and we look forward to hosting many more celebrations soon!
Five residents from Farthing Court retirement flats celebrating the opening of their brand new zebra crossing to Waitrose earlier this year...
A fun evening was had by all at Deercote Court with singing and dancing to ABBA music. Great food, good company and plenty of laughter. Gresham Court has been vibrant with activity this autumn with lots of social events for residents and some new additions to the garden. The warm weather has seen our summer flowers continue to bloom zealously into October, making the grounds look lovely and inviting. We will be planting tulips, crocuses and grape hyacinths once the space becomes available!
Our residents enjoyed another successful Cheese and Wine evening at the Court, with the stilton and cranberry variety a particular hit. We also enjoyed another film night together with residents held in suspense watching the film production of An Inspector Calls. An evening of Music was provided by Mr Martin, our resident melophile, who took participants on a journey through the decades of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. We also enjoyed another music event, with pianist Ian Stuart performing some of the classic songs of the last century at the court, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. We will be happy to see Ian return to the court in the future. Brompton Court welcomed Jane Sykes and her troop on 4th October for an entertaining mix of songs from the shows, from the sublime to the silly including singalong. Owners were welcomed with a fruit punch and popcorn, and an ice cream at the shows interval. Thank you to Ben and Ann for their help on the evening and to Jane and her team for an amazing performance.
For Macmillan coffee morning we raised a great total of £675.67 at Eastbank Court.
