Our own lovely Martin Clarke at Blenheim Court has been awarded a Special Recognition Award for his work for the Conservation and Restoration Team at the Jet Age Museum in Cheltenham. The museum celebrates Gloucestershire’s rich aviation heritage from the early days of flight, through the birth of the Jet Age to the present day. Martin, a skilled engineer, dedicated his time and expertise to the project during Covid lockdown and beyond, helping enable the museum to re-open to the public once government guidelines allowed. |

We have had lots going on at Browning Court, with a stunning new patio just built for owners to enjoy, and a barbecue organised by the Keep Fit club. We also celebrated National Dog Day with a charity event raising funds for the Local Dog Rescue Centre, and welcomed a visit from a world class Tai Chi teacher performing a Sword demonstration in the gardens.
The Court had been very much looking forward to receiving a local singer, a lady who has enjoyed considerable success during her career. The mood of the day, however, had changed progressively as the Nation was waiting anxiously to hear about HRH Queen Elizabeth II, as her health had been declining over the last few hours.
It was just as Rachel More was about to begin her repertoire, at 6.30pm, when the announcement came from Buckingham Palace that Her Majesty had passed away. In a moment of reflection, we paid our respects to our late, Great Queen, giving thanks for her wonderful 70 years of Reign and it was decided that we would celebrate her life, her legacy, by going ahead with the evening. We were so glad to have made that decision. Rachel sang most beautifully, it was a pleasure just to sit back and listen to her voice. The choice of songs that she made was perfect, considering the very poignant time that we were experiencing. The Owners were able to contemplate what our Nation was about to experience and witness, the historical end of an era, taking stock of the many memories that they had of Her Majesty. The tone of the evening was kept most respectful and many felt grateful to enjoy the musicality of Rachel’s voice… soothing and pitch perfect. We thank Rachel for making the evening memorable. With thanks to Suzie and Nicola for ensuring that the evening went as well as could be expected. The Staff at Brompton wish to take this opportunity to convey our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family. May HRH Queen Elizabeth II now Rest in Peace. Brackenbury Manor welcomed a visit from Guide Dogs who, with the help of a 7-month old puppy, delivered a talk to the residents. As this talk was postponed from March 2020, the residents had since successfully adopted a guide dog puppy called Rupert.
We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Her Majesty the Queen. As well as celebrating her life and her example, we want to offer our sympathies to everyone who has been affected by this news.
Our thoughts are with the Royal Family, and we extend our sincere condolences to them too. Yours with sadness, Ewa and the Staff at Deercote Court
