Holmesdale Manor celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III with a lovely party for the bank holiday. A special thanks to the social committee for organising the event. Lots of bubbly was toasted and the food was delicious.
On Tuesday the 25th of April we held an exhibition of exquisite hand made lace, crochet, tatting and hardanger along with an afternoon of shared hobbies, experiences, and talents. As you can see by the photos we have a wealth of knowledge and fabulous skills here at Holmesdale Manor. Holmesdale Manor celebrated Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee with a fabulous array of delicious platters of food and plenty of bubbly. Kathleen, Vernon, Ron, Maggie and Val made this an event to remember, marking 70 years of service from our wonderful Monarch.
Last year the Court Managers and Owners of Great House Court and Holmesdale Manor collaborated to record ‘The Secret Garden’ to highlight awareness of Connie, a local child, who is 3 years old. When she was 6 months old her family were told that she had suffered bilateral brain damage caused by lack of oxygen either before, during or after her birth. This has caused a condition called Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL) which has led to her having Quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. The recording of 'The Secret Garden' has been enjoyed by all Owners.
Holmesdale Manor owners raised a fantastic £326 during a Macmillan coffee morning on the 13th October.
Congratulations to John and Valerie, John and Shirley, Bob and Rita, and Frank and Pat on their 65th Wedding Anniversary.
A fabulous celebration took place at Holmesdale Manor on Wednesday the 25th August and all thanks to Valerie, who arranged the whole event. Margaret celebrated her 101st birthday, during Wednesday coffee morning, with many of her friends here at Holmesdale Manor. There were delicious cakes and everyone had a lovely time. Margaret will celebrate her actual birthday on Friday and is looking forward to visits from her family in France soon.
We would like to thank Calvers for giving us an excellent gardening service whatever the weather. Come rain or shine, Richard, Dean and Carl have gone over and above in making this a beautiful space for us all. Maggie has created a fabulous herb garden and chosen a variety of colourful species of annuals for our pots and many other owners have also designed some lovely displays.
Even in these difficult times the residents of both Holmesdale Manor and Great House Court came together - socially distanced, of course - to record The Secret Garden audiobook to raise money for charity. Special thanks goes to those residents that pioneered this idea in the beginning.
This is an amazing and creative task to do and it shows that people can still do something positive despite the circumstances. But enough about Covid-19, copies of the audiobook will be available shortly and updates of when they will be released online will follow. A big thank you from Macmillan!
Thank you so much for raising a fantastic £165.00 for Macmillan Cancer Support by taking part in our Coffee Morning this year. We hope that you enjoyed it, and that you’ll pass our warmest thanks on to everyone who helped to make it a success. Finding ways to enjoy time with people has never mattered more, so thank you for proving that nothing stops a Macmillan Coffee Morning. The total you have raised to date is an AMAZING £2,836.56! Every single penny you raised will have been a tremendous help to people living with cancer during an extremely tough year. There have been more treatments put on hold, more calls to our helpline, and more isolation and money worries due to the COVID-19 crisis. Thank you again for supporting Macmillan Cancer Support. |
