This morning we said farewell, but not goodbye, to our Duty Manager Sally as she has chosen to retire after an amazing 18 years of service at the Court. Sally is a big part of our Brompton Court family and we will all miss working with her and I know the Owners will miss her dearly. Sally came to the Court in 2004 not long after it opened and has given it her all. Thank you Sally for all your hard work and dedication to the Court over the last 18 years. We wish you all the best for the future and hope you enjoy your retried new life of family time and relaxation as you deserve it. Helen from Kingsdale presented Sally with flowers and a gift, the Owners gifted Sally a large card and very generous gift. Her Brompton Court co-workers old and new could not wait to give her the heart felt jewellery, personalised mug, flowers, chocolates and of course a little bottle of her favourite drink. | |

We had our first Christmas event of the year hosted by the St George’s Choir which three of our Owners are part of. They have set the tone perfectly for the run up to Christmas here at Brompton Court. We all enjoyed their set and then with our song books joined in with a number of popular carols. Of course there was mulled wine and mince pies for all thanks to Carole, Daniel and Laura. This is not the first time for the St George’s Choir, they never disappoint when they visit and put on a beautiful show. Merry Christmas!
Here come the Adverts …
it’s early November, our Halloween pumpkin is losing its splendour, and suddenly there! on the wide screen, Christmas trees sparkle and Santas are seen. The snow-scenes are charming though no one seems chilly, their jumpers are jolly, their fashions are frilly. The dancers are skipping down glittery stairs to show us their lovely new tables and chairs. The meals make us dribble. A wise Fairy buys a glossy great turkey, a mountain of pies, and sumptuous cakes, which are bargains, so cheap, no one will ever lose money. Or sleep. Elves juggle gadgets we simply MUST buy, Cute little children bring tears to the eye. A heart-rending lyric makes mighty men howl, and here’s a sad penguin! Please pass me the towel. Here come the Adverts from magical lands, where crackers go POP and the snowmen hold hands. Where everyone smiles and where life is a dream … while I check the date. Then I whimper and SCREAM Owners enjoyed an exciting evening at Brompton Court with a selection of gins and canapés. The event was hosted by Paul Walker, a local entertainer, who not only has the most amazing swing voice but can throw out a few dance moves too! The night was organised by our Duty Manager Suzie with the help of Carole and what an evening they produced. Drinks, food and dancing... who could ask for more. Thank you Paul for a night to remember!
We recently helped Mary celebrate her 93rd Birthday at coffee morning in our residents lounge. Mary was delighted with the surprise cake and candles. Happy Birthday Mary from all at Blenheim Court.
On Wednesday 26th October the owners gathered to celebrate 10 years’ of Eastbank Court. The Board and Social Committee had arranged for a celebratory coffee morning to take place with coffee and cake for all. The cake was beautifully decorated by our new chef Andrew and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. It was lovely to see so many owners present and enjoying each other’s company, listening to one another’s stories and experiences of their time living here. Here’s to another 10 years!
On Friday 30th September the owners gathered to partake in the Macmillan Coffee Morning. Mr Graham once again ran a very successful Tombola with lots of great prizes being won. Chef Olga exceeded all expectations with the incredible cakes that she made. Owners and their friends/family came along to enjoy a slice of cake, a cup of tea and a chat. We managed to raise an incredible £721.18 with all proceeds going towards the great work that Macmillan do.
Owners and Staff at Deercote Court enjoyed another Spooktacular event last night. From a scrumptious menu (to name a few, Mummies in the Coffin, Bat Wings, Spooky Lorraine, Ghoulish Eyes, Slimy Maggots and Casper Cakes), entertainment and howl-o-ween disco from Ian, to communal rooms decorated with an eerie mood. |
