Brompton welcomed back the Community Voice Choir once again to entertain them with their famous Christmas Carols. Owners enjoyed a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie while singing along to the classic Christmas Carols. Thank you to Suzie, our Duty Manager, for organising and running the event. It was a great success and now has us all in the Christmas Spirit!
Our ladies at Gressland Court have an armchair keep fit class every Monday and each year a presentation takes place for a dedication award. This year the award was won by Shirley; congratulations! All monies raised from the keep fit classes are donated to charity and this year it will be donated to EACH (East Anglian Children’s Hospice).
Our decorations have started to go up ready for the festive season, plus we have lots to look forward to this month. Carol singers with mulled wine and mince pies, our pre-Christmas Lunch, Music Nights, Christmas Party and of course Christmas Day Lunch and Boxing Day Special Lunch. Watch this space for all the events highlights!
Holmesdale Manor would like to say a big Happy Birthday to Frank and Enid who were both 90 this year. Frank’s cake shows important parts of his life including his history at Leith hill, his garage and his hobby restoring old cars, stock car racing and his love of bowling. Enid had a great turn out and the lounge was packed. Many happy returns to you both!
As usual there are many festivities on the run up to Christmas at Harroway!
The Christmas Tree has been put up and decorated today and refreshments of coffee and mince pies were had by all. Christmas Songs will once again be performed by Fetcham Infants School who are excited about coming along to Harroway to sing for us. There will be mulled wine and sausage rolls for the ‘grown ups’ and squash and chocolates for the children. Sherry and Mince Pie Afternoon will be held in the lounge and we hope that it will be well attended. Christmas Lunch is booked at Thatchers Hotel, East Horsley. Christmas Eve & New Years Eve there will be a coffee morning held at the usual time just on a different day. About two and a half years ago a small group of ladies living at Pegasus Court started a knitting group. They began by knitting 'Twiddle Mitts' for dementia patients in local nursing homes, but it soon expanded to Jumpers, Bobble Hats and Blankets. These now go to a village in Africa called Luhimba, a charity run by Paul Temple. All the wool is donated by the knitting group and we all enjoy knitting and nattering two afternoons a week.
Browning Court have held their Christmas Fair, serving Mulled Wine and Mince Pies! There were Craft Stalls, Stalls with Homemade Christmas Cakes and Christmas Puddings, and hand carved wooden mini Christmas Trees. The event was enjoyed by all.
