In 2012 the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed the 21st March the International Day of Forests, to celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests. Countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organise activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns. We did our share at Farthing Court and planted a tree with the help of our trusted gardeners Daniel, Steve and tree surgeon Dan Clark, who started the event by reading the poem “Glory of the Garden” by Rudyard Kipling. Owners gathered to mark the occasion and even added a time capsule with the list of people living in the Court to be placed under the tree. |
