The Platinum Jubilee Celebrations at Blenheim Court were a roaring success thanks to the hard work of a core team of residents, however, there were many other residents who lent their time and expertise to assisting to set up the event. A huge thank you to everyone, and also to the attendees, without whom the whole thing would have fallen flat! We had over forty people in attendance in the end, both residents and family, and judging by the feedback everyone had great fun - despite the threat of rain at one point. Mary, who organised the last jubilee celebration at Blenheim Court, gave her seal of approval, and we have to make a special mention of our “Queen” Briony, who took to the role like she was born for it. We were able to celebrate Daphne’s birthday at the same time, and she sat at the head of the table surrounded by four generations of women in her family. The food was plentiful and typically British, and the Jubilee Pudding by Sarah was to die for. The decorations were spectacular, Colleen spent many hours sewing bunting and the core team each had beautifully made Union Flag aprons. We were fortunate to get several donations from local businesses for our raffle and we managed to raise a good deal of money towards our social fund to pay for future events. |
